Strathaven Choral Society is a Registered Scottish Charity No. SC006127
Strathaven Choral Society is a lively mixed-voice choir performing mainly classical
works. Our major concerts generally take place in May, and either November or December
each year, with occasional variations or additional events. We also host a seasonal
performance of Christmas Carols and festive fun every December.
Our members come from all over Lanarkshire and beyond. Rehearsals are held on Monday
nights at 7.30pm during the concert season in the Strathaven Evangelical Church,
12 Lethame Road. [map] We always welcome new members (particularly Tenors - male
and female!) If you would like to join us, please don’t be shy. You can contact us
here for further information or just come along to any of our rehearsals.
The choir is available for hire at weddings and other functions. There is also a
smaller, very experienced group called the Strathaven Singers who can provide up
to twelve voices plus accompanist, for a lower fee. All proceeds go to choir funds.
Our “Autumn Leaves” concert took place on Sunday 17th November in front of an appreciative
audience. (See details further down the page.)
See the concert programme booklet here. (It will take a little time to load.)
Our next concert will be the annual “Carols by Candlelight” event at the New Lanark
Mill hotel on Thursday 12th December. This will be followed by our annual Christmas
Carol concert on Sunday 15th December at the Rankin Church [map]. (See the poster
below drawn by young Verity Kennett.)
Our “Autumn Leaves” concert on 17th November was a wonderful evening’s entertainment.
